JPSC Civil Services Exam Selection Process: Prelims Exam

  • The preliminary exam is the first stage of the JPSC selection process 2023.
  • It consists of two compulsory objective-type papers,, General Studies Paper I and General Studies Paper II.
  • In the JPSC prelims exam pattern, each paper carries 200 marks, totaling 400 marks.
  • The JPSC prelims exam serves as a screening test. The marks obtained in the prelims exam will be used to shortlist the candidates for the mains exam. However, the prelims marks will not be used to determine their final merit.
  • There shall be no negative marking for wrong answers in the JPSC prelims exam.

JPSC Civil Services Exam Selection Process: Mains Exam

  • The main exam is the second stage of the JPSC selection process 2023.
  • It consists of six descriptive and compulsory papers, i.e., Paper I, Paper II, Paper III, Paper IV,  Paper V, and Paper VI.
  • The marks obtained in the mains exam and interview, except marks secured in Paper I, will be used to determine the final merit.

JPSC Civil Services Exam Selection Process: Interview

JPSC officials only invite applicants who meet the criteria for the Mains to an interview. All original documents must be brought to the interview by the applicants. During the interview, the required documentation is confirmed.

Those who are called upon for the JPSC interview have a good chance of getting selected. The interview is the last phase of the exam. Interview boards have been carefully planned for this level of selection. A final merit list is produced after the JPSC Interview 2024 based on the combination of the interview and main exam results.

An overall merit list is therefore created, with the final candidate’s marks serving as the standard for all other candidates. At this point, the interviewers perform a 100-mark personality Exam.

The document verification is one of the important stages of the JPSC selection process. After declaring the JPSC main results, all the successful candidates will be shortlisted for a personality test/interview round. All successful candidates should produce their original certificates and self-attested copies for scrutiny. If they fail to bring any requested documents or submit the wrong documents, their candidature will be canceled immediately.
