Logic Gates – Class 12 | Chapter – 14 | Physics Short Notes Series PDF for NEET & JEE

Logic Gates: Logic gates are the fundamental building blocks of digital electronics. They are electronic circuits that perform logical operations on one or more binary inputs and produce a binary output based on the rules of Boolean algebra.

Types of Logic Gates

There are several types of logic gates, including:

  • NOT gate (Inverter): A NOT gate has one input and one output. It produces an output that is the opposite of the input. If the input is 0, the output is 1, and if the input is 1, the output is 0.
  • AND gate: An AND gate has two or more inputs and one output. It produces an output that is 1 if all the inputs are 1, and 0 otherwise.
  • OR gate: An OR gate has two or more inputs and one output. It produces an output that is 1 if any of the inputs are 1, and 0 otherwise.
  • XOR gate: An XOR gate has two inputs and one output. It produces an output that is 1 if the inputs are different, and 0 if the inputs are the same.
  • NAND gate: A NAND gate is a combination of an AND gate and a NOT gate. It produces an output that is the opposite of an AND gate output.
  • NOR gate: A NOR gate is a combination of an OR gate and a NOT gate. It produces an output that is the opposite of an OR gate output.
  • XNOR gate: An XNOR gate is a combination of an XOR gate and a NOT gate. It produces an output that is the opposite of an XOR gate output.
