Formula of Angular Acceleration
The formula for angular acceleration is:
α = Δω / Δt
- Δω is the change in angular velocity
- Δt is the time taken for the change to occur.
Just like linear acceleration, angular acceleration can be either positive or negative depending on whether the object is accelerating in the clockwise or counterclockwise direction. If an object is rotating in a circular path and its angular acceleration is constant, then its rotational motion can be described by the following equation:
ω = ω0 + αt
- ω is the final angular velocity,
- ω0 is the initial angular velocity,
- α is the angular acceleration, and
- t is the time taken for the change in velocity to occur.
