Simple Future Tense

As the name suggests, the Simple Future tense is used to describe actions that will happen in the future. This tense is used to talk about an action that will take place after the time of speaking. In English, the Simple Future tense is formed using the auxiliary verb “will” or “shall” followed by the base form of the verb.

Here are some examples:

  • I will go to the gym tomorrow.
  • She will call you later today.
  • They will arrive at the airport at 7 pm.
  • He will finish his work before he leaves.

In these sentences, “will” is used to indicate that the action is going to happen in the future. The base form of the verb is used after “will”.

In addition to “will” and “shall”, there are other ways to express the future tense in English. For example, the present continuous tense can also be used to express future actions:

  • I am meeting my friend tomorrow.
  • She is traveling to Paris next week.
  • They are starting their new job next month.

In these examples, the present continuous tense is used to describe a future action.

Another way to express the future tense is by using the verb “going to” followed by the base form of the verb:

  • I am going to buy a new car next year.
  • She is going to start her own business.
  • They are going to move to a new city.

In these examples, “going to” is used to express an action that is going to happen in the future.
