Conductance of Electrolytic Solutions: Conductance is the ability of a material to allow electric current to pass through it. In the case of electrolytic solutions, conductance is the measure of the ability of the solution to conduct an electric current. The conductance of an electrolytic solution is dependent on the concentration of ions in the solution and their mobility. The conductance of an electrolytic solution is measured in units of siemens per meter (S/m) or equivalent units such as mhos/cm or millisiemens per centimeter (mS/cm).
Conductance of Electrolytic Solutions
The conductance of an electrolytic solution can be measured using a conductometer or conductivity meter, which measures the resistance of the solution and converts it into conductance. The conductance of an electrolytic solution can also be calculated using the following equation:
